Dreamworld Linguistics 🤔

I had one of those dreams where the first dream is in a more “dreamy” version of the room I’m already in (as if the house is also a boat in water and there’s subtle movement), and then I fall asleep and my dream within that dream is somewhere else entirely, yet incredibly vivid.

I was in a car (on the passenger’s side) with a woman. We were on a highway during what seemed to be rush hour. I didn’t see her hands on the wheel so the car must’ve been driving itself. The highway had more lanes than what I was accustomed to in real life, and I was silently looking out of the window wondering how there could be so many lanes for so many cars going in different directions. Might as well be flying like the Jetsons.

Because of dream logic, there was a fast forward and we ended up at a footbridge. Lol

I was looking over it and watching the scenery. I even got a bit of ASMR (random thought: “Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response” is one hell of a word) from listening to my environment. The footbridge was pretty high up.

It felt like her and I were “cool” but not “close”… Not close enough to where we should be on that bridge together unless there was a block party going on.

I was laying down on a bench, and she told me to move so she could sit down. I knew I was dreaming, and I realized where I knew her from once her appearance became more clear. Until then, I’d only glanced at her from the side of my peripheral vision and thought she was a randomly generated character from my own imagination. Once I noticed who she was, I was like, “oh! I know her!”

Lol

I got up so she could sit down, then I playfully fell back down on her lap and snatched a chip out of a bag of chips she was holding. She pretended to be annoyed and played it off after taking one herself.

We sat there silently for a while. I almost fell asleep again in my own dream until she interrupted me.

“Ok, so I’m just going to tell you”, she said.

“What?” I replied.

“I like to ‘eye joy’ you”, she said.

(I’ve never heard that term in that context ever in my life… neither in my dreams nor my waking life)

I had absolutely no idea what she meant so I asked her what it is.

“It’s like, I like looking at you, but I hate that I like looking at you so much”. I laughed because she said that with one of those self-conscious laughs. It was like a mix between a scoff and a giggle.

Then there was a silence.

“I mean, I like you, though?” She added. Then she sat there in silence… again.

“Oh!” I said in response. “I like you too”. Then I took another one of her chips and returned my attention to the pleasant view I had.

She paused for a moment as if she was trying to contain her reaction. It was kind of funny.

It’s like she finally got a weight off her shoulders just for me to acknowledge it and keep it moving like it’s nothing. I wasn’t being dismissive, it just didn’t change how I viewed her. She gestured as if my response was too nonchalant so she moved her leg from under me so that my head fell on the bench. Then I woke up.

(Note to self: constant, vivid dreams nearly every day for almost three years?… interesting… I only take note of the ones that I can pull inspiration from. The others just seem like private messages… I don’t know. Time will tell. I’m taking note of this because I don’t recall remembering “dream lingo” or words that aren’t in my everyday vocabulary that made 100% sense to where I can actually build on it after waking up. The dream seemed a bit futuristic, so I wonder when she said “eye joy”, she would’ve spelled it like “iJOY” or something. “Enjoy”? Lol

Strange lingo. I’ve also heard songs and melodies that I remember when I wake up. It’s fascinating.)
