Why Would They Lie About You To Someone You Don’t Even Know (To Harm You)?

It’s probably because they’re stupid.

At the same time, they want to compete with you for no real reason (even though they’re of no competition to you at all… LOL), because maybe then they’ll find the validation they need from whatever ‘attachments” they have to whoever their idols are.

I remember when I learned this.

A long time ago, I was at a huge club party with some friends, and I was enjoying myself and the music. I saw one of my homies at a distance talking to someone I don’t know, and I slowly approached without interrupting because I didn’t know if they’re friend or foe. If you know, you know. The homie sees me walk up but doesn’t stop the stranger from talking. The stranger didn’t notice me, and is talking about me and saying complimentary things about me, but I don’t recall ever meeting that person. The homie quickly glances at me, grins, and then looks at the stranger and says, “oh so you know him, huh?” And the stranger doubles down on what they’re saying as if I’ve already met and agreed to producing for whatever project they’re working on. When I heard that, I looked at my friend like,”what is going on?”… I was genuinely flabbergasted.

My friend told the stranger that I was right next to him, then they turned, got excited, greeted me, and shook my hand. My friend started laughing. I didn’t think anything of it. I didn’t think any higher or lower of myself or the stranger. I was still enjoying myself, vibing, and conserving my energy so that I could focus more on work when I left the party. The stranger never followed up on what he was saying about the project he was working on, but every time we saw each other out somewhere, I acknowledged him like he was another homie. No harm, no foul. Simple. I believe this experience prepared me for when I went through the inverted form of it.

A few years after that, I get a call from that same homie that some other producer guy is speaking nonsense on me on the internet. Lol… back when they used to say “shots fired”. lol

I looked it up, and had absolutely no idea why the guy said anything about me at all. I don’t know him. I publicly asked him DIRECTLY what the problem was, and he responded by lying and saying I disrespected a friend of his and then goes on to challenge me to a battle or something. It’s funny because I work alone and he works as part of a group, so if there’s a battle, it’s ME against THEM. Lol

Before that, the friend he’s talking about had approached me at my job (a music store back then, post-record shop era) and literally greeted me with the quick, introverted “what’s up, you good? you stilll cookin up that HEAT???!!!!” small talk that most artists have when they see each other out in public but can’t stick around. And we had never seen each other in person then, but were already friends online at the time. After the online kerfuffle, I asked the friend if I offended him or something, and he said no. He confirmed that the other dude had issues with me for weird unknown reasons.

A few weeks go by, and guess who shows up to a party…. lol… the shit-talker.

It’s brought to my attention. I walk up to see what the issue is.. he clinches his teeth and says whatever mumbo jumbo he says.. I say we can go outside (not on some tough-guy shit… but if there’s a fight.. idgaf). We go outside, and instead of whatever fight that was supposed to happen, he talks about competing in a sense that he seems bored with what’s going on in his life or something. He made it clear that it has nothing to do with me, I was just the other “talent” mentioned in the same sentence with him and his whole GROUP of talents, and apparently it offended someone. lol. Long story short, we COULD’VE been friends, but my presence is too powerful for people that make careers out of resources they don’t even care about. Now that I think about it, they might’ve been running on fumes…. 🤔

I stopped caring about “networking” after that and I’ve been winging it ever since….

And that was a loooooooooonnnnnng time ago, and it seems that similar energies reaching out to me NOW are trying to wrap their mentals around that.
