The Poetic Nature of “That Was Before Your Time”

I remember when I was a child and hearing so many old(er) people saying things like, “that was before your time”… when they talked about their livelihoods.

Nowadays I catch myself saying things like, “that was before internet”…..

“That was before artificial intelligence”…

“That was before cell phones”…

“That was before everybody had TVs in their homes”….

One time I was wondering why there’s a hexagon on Saturn, and a subtle, quiet voice replied to me saying, “don’t worry about it, that was before Saturn even had rings…”

I didn’t even respond… I just got out of my bed and started cleaning up shop.
