Divine Sparks With "Elder Exterior(s)"

Every time I find myself in a conversation with an elder that “appears” to be declining in health (according to the you-know-whats and the you-know-whos), I can't help but notice when their speech fluctuates from engaging in small talk to an abrupt switch to saying something so precise that it resonates as if it transcends time and space.

Not all of them have that, of course. Not all people that age are actually elders. Some are more like old douchebags. You already know that, though.
